I always thought when you ported a number, the original carrier's service was cancelled.
However, Ooma tells me that they do not cancel the original phone service and you have to call the original phone service to cancel.
Which is it? Specifically with the original carrier being AT&T landline. Thanks.

Porting a number out usually cancels the previous service automatically unless you have other numbers or services with the account. To make sure it is cancelled, it is a good idea to call and confirm after porting completion.

Yes it does cancel. My AT&T final statement reflected the cancellation as the date of the port. Note that if you have DSL on this line, you will need to cancel that with a phone call.
