Ooma SIP question

It seems that I can not receive or make calls on my ooma. sip and voip protocols maybe are disabled by the ISP. Magic jack works though. Does ooma depends on sip to communicate to its server or does it embedded sip in it's own private packets? Is there a way to know whether ooma works with this ISP?

Ooma uses a VPN tunnel, so it should work with any provider, unless the provider has some extra security.

Who is your Internet provider?

How do you have your system setup? Modem-Ooma-Router or Modem-Router-Ooma?

What is your Ooma device doing when you turn it on?

If you have Ooma between modem and router,

Power off modem (take out backup battery if any), ooma, router.

Turn modem back on, wait til it comes online.

Turn ooma back on, wait til all blue.

Then turn on router.
