Hello. For the past couple of months we've been getting "anonymous" calls and "unknown" or "restricted" calls. Since I cannot SEE the numbers, and the numbers are not listed in the call logs, how do I block them? I would prefer to NOT get any calls from anyone whose number I cannot see. Thanks bunches!

btw, LOVING my ooma! I can't believe I didn't switch sooner! It's awesome only paying $3.50/month for my phone service!

Goto My Ooma Preferences, Privacy https://my.ooma.com/privacy

Enable Anonymous Call Block (select a treatment) and save.

I did that. I am hoping it will work. I tried to add the calls to my personal blacklist that came through "anonymous" and "unknown" but it wouldn't let me because there was no number being shown. I just hope the way I did it blocks ALL calls that don't show a number.

You can try this yourself by dialing *67 and your home number from a cell phone.

I think, from the replies, that the issue reported here is not being clearly differentiated.

This is the case of a caller who is fooling the receiving system. This is not a case of caller that is not providing their caller-id. This is a caller who has is deliberately providing a caller-id of "Anonymous". The phone number has been available in earlier calls but has been slightly modified between calls.

The most recent difference is not the change in caller-id which remains as "Anonymous" but that Ooma is reporting the number in call logs as "anonymous". Any attempt to block that number (which, of course, is not a number) has Ooma reasonably responding that the number requested to be blocked is not a valid number.

However, one has to wonder why Ooma is displaying in call logs a number that is not a valid number.

I forgot to add that the while the caller-id on my phone shows as "Anonymous" the number appears on the phone as a blank line. It is only in the Ooma call log that the number shows as "anonymous" and yes, the difference in upper case for the caller-id and lower case for the number, is as it appears.

Anonymous Call Block should stop numbers from ringing through if no phone number is available.

It's working for me. The phone does not ring, but I find the call in my log with a number but no name listed.

This is a frustrating flaw in the Ooma service. I have received several calls with phone number listed as "Restricted" and the name is listed as "Unavailable". I have anonymous call blocking enabled yet these calls get through. "Restricted" is not a valid telephone number so I do not understand why Ooma lets the call through. You cannot blacklist them as there is no valid number to blacklist. Any Ooma staff out there have a reply?
