The key benefit of ooma has always been easy to convey: unlimited US calling and bundled features with no monthly charges. The full breadth of ooma’s enhanced calling features–like the Instant Second Line and the Broadband Answering Machine–has been more challenging to explain. So we asked ourselves: How can we best demonstrate the full ooma experience?

The answer was simple: an interactive flash demo. If you haven’t checked our homepage for a while, we hope you’ll click here and take a look.

We’ll also be adding video tutorials to the support site in the near future. If you have any feedback or if there’s anything else you’d like to see, please drop us a comment and let us know.

Can messages by fetched from a normal phone through the PSTN?

  2. Ray LaBonte says:

It is not clear if the “regular phone” that connects to the Scout can be wireless. You show a wired old ma bell corded. No one uses those anymore, certainly no one looking at your on-line demo for VOIP.
    What about FAXing?

  3. VBob says:

Hi Mike, yes voicemail can be accessed remotely by two methods:

    1. Online in the ooma Lounge at http://www.ooma.com/lounge
    2. By dialing your phone number, and pressing “*” to access the voicemail box (after entering a PIN).

Hi Ray, thanks for the feedback — we’ll look into swapping out the phone graphic in the next demo revision. Regarding faxing – are you looking into info on using a fax machine with ooma or would you like to see a demo/tutorial on configuring a fax machine with ooma?

    Hi Ray,
I’m a bit confused about one of the basic features. In the “Learn” section on the general overview on your website it says it offers, “Voicemail notifications to your email and mobile phone.” Is this a basic feature or do you only get it it you sign up for ooma Premier?

  6. VBob says:

    Hi Steve,

ooma Core (included with purchase of an ooma system), includes voicemail notifications via SMS (for mobiles) or email. ooma Premier adds an extra feature to voicemail notifications which allows you to receive and listen to voicemail message attachments in your favorite email program.

I have not been able to send long distance faxes using ooma and a HP Laserjet 3380. Is there something I need to be doing other than the standard dialing and pushing the send button?

Is there some fix supposed to be in the works and, if so, when will it be sent out?

    Thanks for any help.

Calling a cellphone a mere phone seems a little silly these days. The little pocket wonders now do so much they are really handheld computers. With extras. The process of mashing one or more gadgets together in the same box used to be
